KEY PRINCIPLES FROM THIS MESSAGE:
Compassion transcends our own circumstances. It is void of partiality because it is focused on the suffering of others, even when said suffering is self-inflicted.
Compassion is not selective.
You cannot lead if you lack compassion!
I Don’t Like You – blog 9/20/25
“For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.”
– 1 John 2:16
If you find yourself in the uncomfortable position of being at the receiving end of someone’s disappointment, anger, or wrath, my advice is simple: stop, take a deep breath, and discern whether you’re dealing with someone filled with the Holy Spirit whose motivation is to restore you in a spirit of gentleness (ala Galatians 6:1) or whether you’re dealing with that person’s flesh, which has apparently been pricked by you standing in Truth.
“For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.”
– Romans 8:7
When someone takes issue with you, whatever you do, never compromise your faith in what is righteous before the Lord. “What fellowship has light with darkness” (2 Corinthians 6:14b)? Never lower your standards just because you’ve lost someone’s affections. If you do, you’ve opened yourself wide open to being manipulated by their flesh. Instead, do as Paul wrote:
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”
– 2 Corinthians 10:5-6
Compassion transcends our own circumstances. It is void of partiality because it is focused on the suffering of others, even when said suffering is self-inflicted.
We shouldn’t be celebrating changed actions; rather, we should be celebrating changed hearts!
A changed heart is an inspired heart!
Do you possess a Biblically inspired, godly servant’s love for NCC and its members?
The best soldiers aren’t inspired by their uniforms; rather, their uniforms are inspired by THEM!
If you SAY you have a heart for Christ, but you’re not really inspired to serve those whom He loves (ala 1Jn 4:20-21), then what’s missing???
If you love self more than God, then you will NEVER love others more than self!!!
Commitment, responsibility, and accountability to the local church are results of a heart that loves God, where said ‘love’ cannot be contrived by the human flesh. We honor God our Savior by committing our lives to Him, out of love for Him, where the unequivocal evidence of our professed love is evidenced by our obedience to Him.
