Part 22 – Commitment, Responsibility, and Accountability To the Local Church

John MacArthur on Gen 3:21

The first physical deaths should have been the man and his wife, but it was an animal – a shadow of the reality that God would someday kill a substitute to redeem sinners.

God’s care for us is lavish; not only far more than we deserve, but far more than we realize.

Compassion transcends our own circumstances. It is void of partiality because it is focused on the suffering of others, even when said suffering is self-inflicted.

Compassion is not selective.

You cannot lead if you lack compassion!

When someone takes issue with you, whatever you do, never compromise your faith in what is righteous before the Lord. “What fellowship has light with darkness” (2 Corinthians 6:14b)? Never lower your standards just because you’ve lost someone’s affections. If you do, you’ve opened yourself wide open to being manipulated by their flesh.

As believers in Christ who have the Word of God, we are called to LEAD in our personal relationships, especially when dealing with those who don’t yet see the value of the Word.
