OUTLINE:
Seeking the Lord
It’s the intentions of the heart that dictate whether or not we receive godly wisdom. It’s HOW we seek the Lord that matters most. (Pr 2:1-12)
Seeking the Lord
Why would we ever reject discipline from God’s authorities? Don’t you want someone who loves you to wake you up? (Pr 3:11-13)
Remember…
Good parenting is met with much more back pressure, persecution, and rejection than bad parenting is today. Love is able to overcome all of it. (Ref: Ro 1:30; 2Ti 3:2– “disobedient to parents”)
A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23
By W. Phillip Keller
“poured out”
from spendo – means to pour out as a libation, i.e. (figuratively) to devote (one’s life or blood, as a sacrifice) (“spend”) — (be ready to) be offered. (Strong’s)
One Of God’s Grace Provisions
We are given shepherds to help us persevere when we’re feeling weak.
The Perversion Of Grace
Grace is the means of salvation/ deliverance. Grace is not accommodating to the human flesh the way many Christians would like to believe. In fact, grace provisions are offensive to the human flesh because they are exclusively God’s to give (the flesh has no part in it).
If the Lord is your confidence, then YOU are not.
Christian Love
The hallmark of Christ-like love is selflessness. In every way, this remains true. In every interaction, it is the driving force. It “lives” for others.
Christian Love
Living for others doesn’t mean doing the best you can for them, from your OWN perspective, it means doing the best you can for them while considering THEIR perspective. This requires discipline, integrity, and humility (ref: 1Co 8:9-13; 9:19-23; Mt 5:38-48)
1Co 13:13
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
We love because we know. (1Jn 4:16-19)
