OUTLINE:
God’s Design
If you expect to have peace without taking the time to be thankful towards God, it will never happen. Sabbath rest alone with the Lord gives us this opportunity. Php 4:6-7
God’s Design
Maybe that’s why the Sabbath was appointed to man for one day every week; the Lord doesn’t want us to go too long without pausing and appreciating the fruits of our joint-labor with Him.
The Value of Rest
If we don’t take the time to pause and rest and look back on our joint-labor with God, we won’t see these things He wants to reveal to us. We will miss out on the appreciation and satisfaction He wants us to take in, as well as the little lessons we didn’t see. And we won’t be truly rejuvenated in our spirits.
Take Time Alone with the Lord
Lovingly submit to the Lord and His ways, and He will take care of you in every way.
“Delight Yourself” – Ps 37:4
The Hebrew literally means “to be soft and pliable”; think about that in a relationship sense with your Creator and Savior. Do you go to Him that way?
Believe It, My Friends!
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecc 3:11a
Don’t try to rationalize everything, take this truth by faith. Have the faith of a child. Trust in the Lord.
Believe It, My Friends!
Times of rest alone with God will restore our faith and rejuvenate our souls! So says the Lord!
Heb 4:7c
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” – Resting is a sign of faith in God, NOT resting in Him means you lack faith in Him/disobedience; i.e. hardening your hearts.
Heb 4:13
And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. – Remember to delight yourself, be soft and pliable before Him. He already knows what’s in your heart.
Be Eager for Time Alone with God
God loves us, and He wants us to be rested and rejuvenated and empowered by His Spirit… which only comes when we enter into the Father’s love. Jn 14:21-23, 16:26-27
The Value of Rest
If we don’t take the time to pour our hearts out to God, alone with Him, we will bottle up anxieties and emotions and they will come out in an unhealthy way, and possibly burden others wrongly, when we should cast all our cares and burdens on the Lord! – Ps 55:22, 73:26-27, Php 4:6-7, 1Pe 5:6-9
Php 4:6-7
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isa 32:6
For the fool speaks folly, and his heart is busy with iniquity, to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the LORD, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink. (lack of God’s truth shared to satisfy the soul)
Love for the Lord leads to “fine speech”
A person who loves the Lord obeys the Lord.
A person who obeys the Lord is a person of integrity.
A person of integrity would rather die than lie.
Jas 5:12
But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
