OUTLINE:
Eph 2:4-6
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
The Right Hand
Denotes a place of honor, power, authority, and unparalleled glory. It is also the position of subordination to the “Majesty on high” (Heb 1:3). This is where our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ went after His ascension (Ac 1:1-9).
Ps 16:11
You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Heb 1-2
The cultic background/context here is that the Jews at the time held angels in the highest regard, slotting just under God. The writer had to dispel that and make sure they knew only the Lord Jesus was worthy.
Gal 3:19
Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made (the offspring being Jesus, the promised Son and Savior, who would fulfill the Law perfectly), and it [the law] was put in place through angels by an intermediary.
Ps 2:7
I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.”
Ps 97:7
All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!
Ps 104:4
he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.
Ps 45:6-7
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;
Ps 102:25-27
Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.
Ps 110:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”
Jn 5:39-40
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
The Right Hand
