Part 3 – Our Attitude Towards Wisdom

OUTLINE:

Having a Positive Attitude
We believers should go about life with a positive attitude, for one reason only, because we have confidence in the Lord and His goodness. GOD IS WITH US AND FOR US!! Ps 46:1, Jer 20:11, Ro 8:28-32, 1Jn 4:4

Jer 9:24 NLT
But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Our Attitude Towards Wisdom
By faith, do you have a positive attitude about discovering God’s wisdom… expecting to receive understanding from the Spirit each time you open your Bible??

Our Attitude Towards Wisdom
Attitude, a close relative of Perspective, is something very vital to our spiritual lives. This being so important because God simply, and always, looks at the heart. 1Sa 16:7

Key Considerations In Your Soul
Do you look at wisdom as riches and wealth? Mt 6:33, 13:44-46, Job 28, Pr 2:1-10
How often do you pray for wisdom? 2Chr 1:10

There are two kinds of obedience: that which is done in love and that which is not.

Our Attitude Towards Wisdom
For seeking wisdom to be godly, it must rightly be done while “maintaining the same love”. Php 2:1-2, 1Jn 4:19

Perspective On Wisdom
God’s wisdom is grounded in His love. Gaining His wisdom doesn’t just include growing in His love. God’s wisdom is infused with love because God IS love. 1Jn 4:8,16

God Possesses All Wisdom!
Remember, God knows our every thought already. Therefore, prayer should be a place of utterly honest communication with our Heavenly Father! And when we humbly ask for help, even help with our motivation, He will answer.Mt 7:7-11

If we are simply going through the motions, we are failing, no matter how magnificent our labors might appear outwardly, or even superficially to ourselves in the mirror (we can convince ourselves of an awful lot when we put our minds to it – the human mind is especially adept at counterfeiting).

Maybe you’ve been reading your Bible half asleep, or you’ve rushed it, like you would a chore. Maybe you’ve become familiar with your church family, skipping days when the doors are open and the Word is being preached. Maybe you’ve forgotten to count your blessings. Worst of all, maybe you’ve become familiar with Christ’s work on your behalf…forgetting that you’ve been purchased with a price and that your life isn’t yours to keep. Wake up; your familiarity has made you bitter.

Eternally Saved From Death!
If we go about life holding onto this true perspective, we can’t help but be happy and grateful, and we won’t really care about the other details of our lives!! Col 1:13-14

Col 1:13-14
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Key Considerations In Your Soul
Why don’t we ask God for spiritual things??
Why is asking for wisdom closer to the bottom of our list than the top (if it is)??

Perspective On Wisdom
God is trying to cleanse our hearts from deception; and that includes the lie that gaining His wisdom doesn’t need to be our top priority and desire. Mt 6:33, 1Ki 3:9

Sacrifices in the Bible are results of, not causes of, spiritual wisdom.
For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. —
Hosea 6:6
“But go and learn what this means: ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” —
Matthew 9:13

God’s After Our Hearts
Knowing and loving God is of far greater importance to God than the sacrifices we make.
Mk 12:28-34

Perspective On Wisdom
God is trying to cleanse our hearts from deception; and that includes the lie that gaining His wisdom doesn’t need to be our top priority and desire. Mt 6:33, 1Ki 3:9
