Part 2 – The Other Side of Grace

OUTLINE:

Gratitude
We must be grateful for the blessings we have today because there’s no guarantee they will remain forever.

Gal. 6:9-10
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Jn 15:12
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

Eph. 4:32-5:2
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. [Consider Ro 5:10 ] Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

The “Other” Side of Grace
Don’t just remember Jonah; remember the plant, also! Don’t just relate to Jonah, but relate to being the instrument God might choose to use at any time as a blessing in the life of another.

Perspective on Grace
Grace must first be given through some instrument before it can be received (it is implied). In order for grace to “flow” freely, it mustn’t be hampered by selfishness (e.g. wanting to keep one’s time/energy/finances for self).

At the root of every false religion is selfishness.

Gal 1:10 [Amplified]

Am I now trying to win the favor and approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

Being “In Love”
There’s no better place to be, for you or for others, than abiding in the sphere of God’s love! (e.g. Jn 15: 11-14)

1Pe 4:8
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
