Part 10 – The Deceitfulness of Sin

OUTLINE:

Happy New Year!
The year of our Lord 2019!

1 Co 6:12
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

The Total Depravity of Man re: Gen 3:10
If the words of Adam in [Genesis 3:10] are carefully pondered, a solemn and fatal omission from them will be observed: He said nothing about his sin, but mentioned only the painful effects which it had produced. As another has said, “This was the language of impenitent misery.”

Do you see the very nature of sin already present in the soul of our forefather, Adam??? Do you see the deception he was under? He was “under the influence” of sin. Gen 3:10

The Total Depravity of Man re: Gen 3:10
The chief objective of the fallen sons of men is to quiet their guilty consciences and to stand well with their neighbors. Hence so many of the unregenerate assume the garb of religion.

Remember, the sin nature wants to do what Adam first did… look at the externalresults, the difficulties, the strain of life itself… and then, incredibly, it goes so far to turn on God!

Sin wants to get your eyes on the external results and the pain you’re in, rather than discovering the cause and being set free by agreeing with God on the matter.

The Total Depravity of Man re: Pr 19:3
This is one of the vilest forms in which human depravity manifests itself: that after deliberately playing the fool, and discovering that the way of transgressors is hard, we murmur against God instead of meekly submitting to His rod.

Playing The Fool?
We all do it at times, but instead of living in self pity and blaming God, we can receive His mercy by agreeing with God and humbling ourselves before Him. Pr 19:3, Lk 18:14, 1Pe 5:5-6, Jas 4:1-10, 1Jn 1:5-10

Pr 19:3
The foolishness of man ruins his way,
And his heart rages against the LORD.

The sin nature is so very deceitful it convinces us that the real issue isn’t with the fruit of our unrighteousness… rather, that it’s somehow our Creator’s fault!

A person who takes the unholy tact of blaming God for his problems has a serious case of DECEIT in them! And since God is not the author of deceit, it must be SINthat is responsible.

Ro 2:11
For there is no partiality with God.

Subjectivity is the base cause for emotionalism… and once emotionalism leads knowledge, man is free to speculate any way he so desires regarding the things of God.

Integrity
Objectivity exists in the absence of partiality. We cannot make special rules for those we love (including, and starting with, ourselves)! Jesus despises this! (Lk 11:46)

The “Big” Question
“How do even well-intentioned believers get caught up in subjectivity, partiality, and the deceitfulness of sin?” (cp Pr 4:13-15)
