KIDS’ CORNER: What Every Christian Should Know

TODAY’S VERSES:

I Timothy 2:3-4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

In prep school we just finished a series titled, “What Every Christian Should Know”. So, what is it that every Christian should know, you ask? Great question!

As the verse above says, God wants all people to receive His gift of salvation and learn the Truth.

How are we saved? We must repent, realizing that we are depraved (born without even a drop of His goodness) and need to be saved from sin.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.

We must believe that Jesus Christ, the God-man, was judged for our sin, died, and then was resurrected. That because of the cross, those who believe are redeemed (price of sin paid), justified (made righteous), and reconciled (relationship restored) to God because God, the Father, is propitiated (satisfied) with Jesus’ work on the cross. In humility and gratitude, we then understand that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.

Romans 5:8-10 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

So, once we are born again and saved, how do we learn Truth? He gave us His mind, the Bible, which we are told to ready EVERY DAY!

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

What else should every Christian know? How about that God loves us with an amazing, eternal, perfect love?

Psalm 136:26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.

How about we will never have to be without Him? Once we are born again and saved, we are His- FOREVER!

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

God wants us to know all of these things so that we may live a life of purpose, filled with confidence in who God is and all that He has promised. He wants us think like the Apostle Paul did, as he expressed in these verses:

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
