KIDS’ CORNER: Forever His Sons and Daughters

TODAY’S VERSE:

2 Corinthians 6:18 and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty.

How long will you be the children of your parents? If you lie, talk back, or run away from home, do you stop being their child? What if you moved out and chose not to speak to them for years- would you still be their son or daughter?

How confident are you that your parents will love you no matter what you do? Is it possible for them to stop loving you? If you asked your parents these questions, they would answer that you will ALWAYS be their child and they will ALWAYS love you- no matter what you do or don’t do. That’s wonderful, right? This makes you feel safe and secure, yes?

What if we told you that God would answer the same exact way if you asked Him these questions? As “Today’s Verse” tells us, once we are born again and saved, God considers us His sons and daughters.

John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

What happens, though, when we fail? Once we are His child, is there a sin we can commit that is so big it would cause Him to stop loving us? How confident can we be that we will always be a son or daughter of God and He will always love us?

Where better to look for the answers to our questions than to God, Himself? He shared His thoughts with us in the Bible. That is why it is so important to read it… every day!

The Bible tells us that God has promised to never leave us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

He has also promised to always love us!

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord

It is simple, really, as Christians we BELONG to God, as His children. It is impossible for anyone, including ourselves, to come between the Lord and us. Our relationship with Him cannot be taken away.

John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

God uses the love and faithfulness of our parents as a visual aid of our eternal security with Him. This should make you very grateful for the gift of your parents and, more importantly, the gift of eternal security, which is our salvation and eternal life with God.

Thank you, God, for all the many ways you show us how loved and protected we are and will always be!
