KIDS’ CORNER: Family Forever

TODAY’S VERSE:

1 John 3:1a “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called  children of God; and so we are.”

As we conclude our study on Eternal Security in prep school, we have been blessed to learn about how God gives us proof that we will always be saved. One truly amazing way He does this is by adopting us as His very own children. We could even say that we are born into His family upon salvation! Here are some verses that tell us this good news:

Romans 8:14-17 “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sonsof God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.”

Galatians 3:25-26 “But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.”

Ephesians 1:4-5 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will”

Now, we want to make this very real for you. Take a moment to think about your own family. Ask yourself these questions: Will your mom or dad ever stop being your mom or dad? Can you just decide that your siblings are not your siblings anymore when they make you angry? The answer is, of course, NO! Like it or not, our family is always our family. Even if members move away or maybe, sadly, decide to stop talking to each other, that does not change who they are. Well, it is even more permanent with God. We are His family for all of eternity, so our salvation can never be taken away or lost. Once a part of God’s family, we will always be a member.

Now, all of these things cannot be seen with our eyes and may even seem unbelievable. But, that is where faith comes in. As we read our Bibles and pray every day, we get to know the Lord and trust Him- even when what He says seems impossible.

Matthew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

The Creator of all things loves us and calls us His children! Knowing this, we can be confident that we are never alone and will be with Him always. Once born again and saved, we are God’s and each other’s family forever!
