Part 32 – Proverbs 17 Wisdom

OUTLINE:

Ro 1:32 [NLV]
They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

“greedy”
from pleonexia – means the desire for more (things), i.e. lusting for a greater number of temporal things that go beyond what God determines is eternally best (beyond His preferred-will); usage: covetousness, avarice, aggression, desire for advantage [Strong’s]

“to practice”
from ergasia – refers to working, activity, work, service, trade, business, gains of business, performance, practice.

“seared”
from kauteriazo – means to brand (sear) with a red-hot iron; (figuratively) cauterized, which destroys the “spiritual nerve-endings.”

Jas 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Ro 12:18
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

“a man after my heart”
David owns this designation because he was humble and repentant, knowing his sins were preeminently against the holy, sovereign, righteous God of the Universe. His life was a confession, a testimony, a witness.

“I’m better!”
When the human flesh claims victory, it is an affront to the Holy Sovereign of the Universe because said “victory” implies that it is over God. Therefore, if you’re proclaiming a victory over God, it becomes your judgement!

The Value of Truth
The Word of Truth is a double- edged sword (Heb 4:12). If you’re oriented to God, you are blessed with peace; if not, you are cursed with unrest.

The Word of Truth is the final say on all things.
