Ac 20:35b
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Jesus
“not as a command”
Paul never commanded the Corinthians give to the ministry. He, like any good shepherd, tried to lead them to the blessings of giving that are realized to the giver’s account. His motivation was never money; rather, it was that the sheep be blessed.
“this benefits you”
Paul was teaching the Corinthians that giving was to their benefit. Likewise, giving to the ministry is to YOUR benefit. If you think with human rationalism, you arrive at the opposite conclusion, thinking giving is to the receiver’s benefit, primarily.
There are a lot of poor “rich” people in this world.

“acceptable according to what a person has”
There are no set amounts or percentages for giving today (tithing was a command for Israel in the OT). Furthermore, we are not to treat giving like a gym membership, where all give the same amount. God desires we give based on our ability.
Mt 10:8 [NASB]
Freely you received, freely give.
Jas 2:15-16
If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?
2Ti 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
1Co 9:24
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
Jesus Christ is the “inexpressible gift!”
