Part 92 – Proverbs 17 Wisdom

OUTLINE:

Charles Spurgeon on Rev 21:23c “The Lamb is the light thereof”
Quietly contemplate the Lamb as the light of heaven. Light in Scripture is the emblem of joy. The joy of the saints in heaven is comprised in this: Jesus chose us, loved us, bought us, cleansed us, robed us, kept us, glorified us: we are here entirely through the Lord Jesus.

Mt 17:1-2
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.

2 Co 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Perspective Is Everything!
In Isaiah 40, God reminds us of how immensely large He is, and we shouldn’t be trying to find any substitutes for Him, because nothing can compare to Him!!

Eph 1:4c-6
In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

“Rejoice in the LORD!” (Php 4:4)
Allow the power and kindness of God to overwhelm your soul with gratitude. He is good to those who seek Him!

“Fine Speech” – Pr 17:7
As believers in Christ, we are to act with dignity, humility, and even nobility…… as a prince, not as a fool. And this begins with our speech because it directly affects others, and it reflects on our Lord!

God’s Incredible Goodness
God not only offers us forgiveness, but also a restoration of sweet fellowship, any time we turn to Him in humility. Rev 3:19-20

Oh! To Love and Fear the Lord!
LOVE is the great motivation that solves all our problems; and remember the Spirit has taught us the close relationship between Love and Fear! Ps 103, Pr 16:6

God’s Steadfast Love and Faithfulness
If we run the race with humility and fear for the Lord (ala Pr 22:4), we will not be disqualified (ala 1Co 9:27), but the Lord will take care of us in every way (ala Ro 8:28), and in HIS timing, don’t forget.

Fine Speech!
There’s nothing like the pure wisdom of the Word of God! All we’ve got to do is keep reading!! 🙂

Pastor Collins on Proverbs 22 & 29
“While all that may be an offensive pill for contemporary Americans to swallow, it’s nonetheless TRUE! We can never shy away from truth if we want to hold fast our integrity. True humility demands authority-orientation. And, in this case, our authority is the unadulterated Word of God…aka, the Word of Truth.”

“fine speech” – yether saphah
The Hebrew means excellent speech, as in “overhanging”, an “excess”; as in extra good language that someone can grab onto (a small rope, as hanging free).
